Another build week. Hit all my workouts AND added an extra bike on Wednesday morning. I've been pretty busy this week, lots of nights where I'm not done working out until 8pm or getting home around that time. I have only been getting about 6 hours or so of sleep during the week so my energy wasn't super high. One good thing that starts to happen the better shape I get into as we build in this training plan - no matter how low I think my energy is, as soon as I start working out my body shifts into gear and seems to have limitless potential. I love that. It's just the mental battle to get started despite my muscle fatigue, mental fatigue, soreness... which luckily this week wasn't hard at all. I've hit that point where I don't think about wanting to workout or not - it's not an option, it's just what I do, "sometimes you just do things"... Feels good to be getting back into that mindset instead of dreading going to the pool or getting on my bike and daydreaming about eating dinner at a normal time. Also, I've finally hit that stride where 1 hour of anything - swimming, riding, or running, is a standard, short time. It makes the workouts go by a lot more quickly.
Got to hit the trails again this weekend for my long run on Saturday (switched my weekend days again - 60 min ride, 100 minute run, 60 minutes lifting on Saturday). Gorgeous day, the type of run where nothing can stop you. I made it to the top of every climb without wanting to stop, averaged 1 min/mile faster than I usually do at Cougar Mtn, and was filled to the brim with happiness to be out there. I feel so lucky to live in this state, where I can be in a booming, incredible and busy city one minute and 20 minutes later can be climbing a mountain in the middle of the woods.
These 3+ hour rides on my trainer these last couple weekends are so tough. My back aches being in that same aero position so long, where outside you'd naturally be shifting between aero position and sitting up. I'm looking forward to getting outside on a long ride, after I get my new tri bike fit next weekend.
HAPPY EASTER to you all. Hope you have a great holiday.
